Executive Coaching for Individuals
Every situation has possibilities and you always have the power of choice. Coaching is about exploring what’s possible, discovering what you truly value, and making choices in light of those values.
How It Works
No two coaching engagements are exactly alike. They are tailored to your particular needs and goals. My style is collaborative and supportive. I am here for you. At the outset, I gather information and ask questions to get to know you, your work environment, and your goals for the coaching. Then, over the course of several sessions, we work together to pinpoint what needs to happen to achieve those goals and the steps needed to get there. I challenge leaders to look deep inside and notice what is driving their thoughts and assumptions, creating space for more constructive ways of acting, thinking, and being. For the leader, the experience should be thought-provoking, challenging, and ultimately fulfilling. In general, a typical engagement is four to six months, though it can extend longer. This allows time for you to explore, make changes, and integrate those changes into your daily life.
Executive coaching gives you:
Time to work on yourself and what matters most to you
A place to let your guard down and explore new possibilities
A trusted partner who is focused on your well-being and success
A sparring partner to challenge you when others may not
Tips, tools, perspective, and expertise to help identify and make changes that will enhance your wellbeing and fuel your success
Structure and accountability needed to make those changes last
How You Benefit
The personal benefits of executive coaching are as varied as your goals. One of the greatest benefits is getting greater clarity around what those goals are – because it’s a lot easier to get there if you know where you’re going.
Coaching can help you:
Prepare for larger roles and next steps by helping you acclimate to the demands for critical thinking, leadership, and decision-making
Lead with greater impact and influence by tapping into your power of empathy to build relationships built on trust and respect
Cope with complexity and ambiguity by recognizing what’s in your control and quieting the inner judge about what’s not
Handle difficult workplace situations by preparing to engage in crucial conversations
Become more confident in your abilities and choices by recognizing and amplifying your strengths and removing barriers to performance
Feel more empowered and fulfilled by clarifying your core values and consciously making choices that align with them
How to Get the Most Out of Coaching
While every coaching engagement is tailored to a leader's unique needs, there are some common factors that underlie those that are most successful. For the leader and coach, success has much to do with mindset, trust, and intention. For the leader's organization (when it is party to the coaching engagement) it’s about setting a tone and establishing policies that encourage growth and development:
Coach: Establish an honest, open, and trusting relationship with the leader to encourage the type of deep reflection, creativity, and motivation needed to generate real and lasting behavior change
Leader: Cultivate a mindset that is open to a degree of self-reflection, exploration, and experimentation that may feel uncomfortable, in service of making improvements to how you work, how you feel about work, and how you show up to your co-workers
Organization: Create a supportive environment and foundation needed for the leader to explore new ways of thinking and acting
"Becoming a leader is synonymous with becoming yourself. It is precisely that simple and it is also that difficult."
